We always give our kids a book as one of their Christmas presents. For Cameron, this presents a bit of a challenge. His reading level and interest level are not even close. So this year we decided to give him an audiobook instead of a physical reading book. We chose the first installment of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Lightning Thief. To say Cameron (and Ani and Jamie for that matter) enjoyed the audiobook would be an understatement. They all listened to that one plus the other four.
Today The Lightning Thief movie is being released in theaters. Jamie, Ani, and Cameron will be going to see it on Monday for Ani’s birthday. About a month ago Ani asked if we could learn about the Twelve Olympians. I found lots on ancient Greece and Greek gods in general, but nothing on just the Twelve Olympians.
So, once again, I made my own. This time I made a short unit study on basic information (parentage, what they are the god/goddess of, symbols, etc.) on the Twelve Olympians plus Hades and Hestia. It includes 30 activities including fun worksheets and making a Mount Olympus covered in paper gods. Enjoy!

I downloaded this yesterday and the kids made me print out a copy for each of them. It is wonderful- thanks SO MUCH for sharing. My boys are 9 and 7 and love Percy Jackson. We’re on the 2nd book now. My 9-year-old has learned so much mythology from this series.
I linked to this post from my blog. Hope you don’t mind.

I also wanted to thank you for sharing this. My 8 year old daughter is absolutely obsessed with Greek mythology thanks to the Percy Jackson series, and this is giving her something to do to feed that obsession over the summer. She painted her paper mache Mount Olympus today and can’t wait to finish making the seven paper gods she has left to make. It’s fun to see how much my 4 year old daughter is picking up because of her sister’s intense interest, too.
